Logging out.
#1
After several months not being able to log in and therefore reading only I eventually managed to log in (by opening the log in box in a new tab).

And now I can't log out! Nothing seems to work on the drop down arrow which I think I remember was where the log out button lives.

Sorry if this has been covered in another thread somewhere, but can someone point me in the correct direction? I am a tidy sort of guy and like to log out when I'm done. I'm logged in on a laptop, by the way, and have tried a couple of different browsers, but no joy. No doubt it will be something simple. Please don't mock!

TIA
Wicky

I can only seem to login on my mobile. Just tried it on desktop and no pop up appears.

I'm permanently logged in until the site decides I need to log in, of its own accord.

A few noted problems on the Alloa game thread, myself included (the problems were not to do with the thread itself)
I had been having problems for perhaps as long as a year, not being able to sign out and thought other people must be having same problem as on that day, a Wednesday morning there were 97 people logged in!
I think it was the next day I noticed I was signed out and never did get round to thanking whoever sorted that out. The number of people signed in has been quite low since then so assumed everything was fixed.
On seeing this thread I went to log in and as Wicky said could not sign in( no box) I got round that and just pressed a reply to post button in one of the threads which then brought up the sign in box. I then checked to see if I can sign out and found I cannot!

I can't log out of this on my main PC while I can't log in on my work laptop- the log in box doesn't even appear on it.

I haven't been able to log in on anything other than my mobile phone for months now.

Are any admin able to assist?

Sussed it out on my iPad by chance - held onto the login button and move the button while holding the button as if you are going to move it - options will appear - select open in a new tab - may also work with right click on a mouse if you right click on the login button - give it a try......may be related to pop up blocker.....

Had this problem recently as well and could not log in, right click and open in new tab was the only way I could see around it. Dare I ask the question about the future of this site. It seems in terms of development (and even maintenance) it is dead, and any such feedback in the past, triggers the nuclear option of the site being closed etc.

Sorry guys, I've achieved as much as I realistically can with what I've got access to. The forum is running on a very out-dated version of the software which is no longer supported. This is why a number of features aren't working properly - the software needs a full upgrade, which would likely require a full redesign of the site however I don't have access to that side of things. It's a very labour intensive job to do all of that, but I will speak to Adrian again (who owns and pays for the site) to see if he can get me further access to make a start but frankly I don't have all that much time to do a full rebuild either.

Otherwise, yes I am here pretty much every day doing standard maintenance. I even sometimes fix posts where users' haven't figured out how to quote or link properly. (hint: don't delete the bits of coding in your reply)

Spain, thank you for all the time and effort Adrian and you put into this site. It certainly keeps us up to date with what's going on etc. I am sure everyone on here will join me in acknowledging your fantastic contribution to our club and community. Many thanks again.

Exactly - thank you Spain. There must be days when you question the value, so thanks for keeping going.
