My now local team AFC Bournemouth have just grabbed promotion to the EPL along with £120 million. But this is so like the County story. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32315677

Small town (for Southern England) unfashionable club from the sticks.

Young manager (Eddie Howe) in his thirty’s, played in midfield for Bmth & took his first management post with the club, left for a “bigger” club, didn’t work out came back

Club nearly went out of existence 7yrs ago due to debt (Legend is that there was just 5mins to spare) local people put money in a bucket to keep it going.

Came from the bottom of the league structure, just avoiding relegation on the last day 6yrs ago

Biggest success culminated in beating a Neil Lennon managed team last night

Smallest ground in the division seating just 11700

Does this tale Ring any bells with the County support?

Next season if you’re interested why not make the Cherry’s your EPL team.

Mon County! Mon Bournemouth! (in that order)

True True. Maybe JM and Uncle Roy can talk to Eddie Howe and Maxim Demin then we can have a pre season friendly down here on the Sunny South Coast - County fans could even kick the day off at my beach hut :-)

A great achievement by AFC Bournemouth to get to the premiership

Used to follow the career of Inverness born Ted MacDougall with interest, a proven goal scorer with the Cherries and a few other English clubs.

Derek Holmes, initially on loan, then was there for about 4 years.

I'm trying to look knowledgeable but I looked it up. In truth I thought there had been a player connection but didn’t know who. Its somewhat concerning that you would know that snippet lol

Fair Tongue I have a bizarrely good memory for stuff like that, though I'm nowhere near as obsessive about the last few season as I was when I was younger! Random snippets like that just seem to stick in my brain.
