Amid mounting interst from Celtic, Dundee Utd have put a price on Gary mackay-Steven, just £250,000?! Surely considering his impact the last couple of seasons with Dundee Utd, his age and potential to be even better, aren't the Arabs setting their sights a bit low??

If it wasn't for the fact his contract expires in the summer and he won't sign a new one, yes.

His form has also been pretty erratic this season, with some fans saying he's not a definite starter any more and should be coming off the bench.
Admittedly, his form these last few games has been very good as far as I'm aware.
Whether or not that's related to him being able to talk to other clubs now is open to conjecture...

Personally don't think his end product is good enough for Celtic, but fair play to him if he signs for them.

The £250,000 is to get him to sign a pre-contract.

If they get that they'll be doing well, otherwise he'll leave for nowt in the summer.

Still cannae believe he never played a 1st team game for County or that we never took a chance on him 2nd time round.

There wouldn't be a fee due to United for a pre contract. GMS would be entitled to do that without any payment required to DU if his contract expires in the summer. The £250K would be for United to agree to him leaving in the January window, though a sale and loan back to the end of the season seems an increasingly popular strategy.
